Egypt’s Top Quranic Family Named

IQNA – The top contender in the ‘Quranic Family’ category of Egypt’s international Quran competition was introduced.

The 30th edition of the international Quran competition got underway at the Dar-ul-Quran Center of the Masjid Misr, Egypt’s new administrative capital, on Saturday, December 23.

On the second day of the event Sunday, the Mohammad Saad Issa family was named the winner in the category of the top Quranic family, al-Misrawi news website reported.

The family will be awarded a cash prize of 500,000 Egyptian pounds.

The Mahmoud Ahmed Mahmoud Mukhlis family was the runner-up, winning 400,000 pounds.

And the Abdul Hamid Abdul Fattah Abuzuhra family came third, winning a cash prize of 300,000 pounds.

Meanwhile, the competition continued in other categories under the supervision of Sheikh Mohamed Hashad, president of Egypt’s Association of Quran Reciters.

Representatives of 64 countries are competing in the international contest, organized by Egypt’s Awqaf ministry.

According to Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mukhtar Gomaa, the total amount of cash prizes for this edition will be over 8 million Egyptian pounds, showing a 300-percent growth compared to last year’s edition.
